Bridal Instructor: Mary Rino French Seams on Mesh The technique I have chosen for this paper is the French seams on mesh. I really like this technique because it leaves the finished of the garment very clean and simple, it happens to be see through, so it makes it much better. I had avoided in the past to work on mesh because I was afraid that my work and seems will look bad. However, I have totally fallen in love with this technique due to its simpleness, freshness, and clean work. The way that this technique works, is by sewing the garment wrong sides together, side seams, shoulder seams, as well as placing the sleeves wrong sides together. Then, we need to cut the seams shorter to ¼”, once everything is cut to ¼”, we will sewn right sides together. By doing it this way, the inside garment will look very clean, and it will not show any sewing because all the sewing is inside the french seams, so the mesh fishing looks very clean and beautiful. Now, I am not afraid to work with mesh, and I am very sure that from now on out, I want to work with mesh more often, just for the illusion that there is no fabric holding any sequins, beads, and closures. In my opinion, French seams technique is the most beautiful finish on mesh! |
